5 Generations of the Great Ghost Family at Sterndale & Peak Hols
The Great Ghosts are going from strength to strength at Sterndale & Peak Holsteins. With 5 generations of this fantastic family housed at Fernydale Farm, this in its self proves what a great family this is.
The Ghost family started at Fernydale Farm with the purchase of Riverdane Terrason Ghost EX94, a daughter of the All Britain Junior Cow 2003 Ridgefield Storm Ghost 2 EX93. Ridgefield Terrason Ghost was sold at a record breaking price, for an in-calf heifer, of 27,000gns at the Sterndale Sale in 2005. We bred her 2 Allen daughters, Sterndale Allen Ghost EX94 (3) and Sterndale CB Allen Ghost EX94 (2), both of whom still feature within the herd today. These 2 cows have had a tremendous impact on the current herd, Sterndale Allen Ghost has to date 2 EX and 5 VG daughters and Sterndale CB Allen Ghost has 1 EX and 3 VG daughters. This family has up to 12 generations of VG or EX cows.
Ghost family members who have shown talent in the show ring include Sterndale Goldwyn Ghost EX92 4YR, maternal sister to the prizewinning Sterndale Shottle Ghost VG89, who was Reserve Champion Western Holstein Club Spring Show 2011 and Sterndale Alexander Ghostly was Nominated All Britain 2012, 1st & Hon Mention All Britain All Breeds Calf Show 2012.
Sterndale Shot Ghost EX90 EX93-MS is the 8th generation of Excellent cows, she is currently on flush programme with embryos available by Kingboy and Silver. The average classification of these 8 generations is 93 points with an average mammary of just under 94 points!
